WOA#4

so i wanted to do something for this project that i could also incorporate into my concentration so that i would only have to make two pieces of art not three. My concentration is feminism, like how girls are different then boys and girly stuff. I am going to make a model looking girl standing wearing a dress with all different designer names over it, because we have to include numbers/letters. Not sure if m going to collage the whole thing yet or just the dress.we will just have to wait and see what looks best

Louis Icart

when i visited my grandparents house over the summer they had many paintings done by Louis Icart. I felt really inspired by his work because it is very feminine and kind of old Victorian/ Vintage looking. here are a couple of his works that my grandparents had in their house that i really enjoyed and that gave me inspiration that I might use toward my concentration.

WOA #2

our work of art challenge this week was to take a family portrait! i thought that it would be interesting to just show pretty much the daily routine that my mom and i share. We are really good friends and like to hang out together a lot. so must nights before i go to bed, and after i get all my homework done of course, we normally watch TV in my bed and sometimes have some snacks. my kitty is always there too so i wanted to include her as well. My dad took the picture and i thought that would be okay because he normally is off watching his own show or doing something else in another room. well, i hope you like it! ha

Self-Portrait

soo i wasnt really sure how to start on my self-portrait but i decided to choose a picture that i think really represents me.  hahahah this picture was taken sophomore year in Mexico over spring break and i think it shows that i really like to have a good time. haha i decided to use charcoal and last class i learned how to use the projection machine to project the small image onto the paper that i am using to draw on and trace around everything to make the proportions correct. It was sooooo much faster and easier then trying to graph it out and sketch it free hand. I guess you learn something new every day. :) i am excited to keep working on my piece and make it look fabulous.

Andrea Benson

Over the summer i took an encaustic mixed media art class with Andrea Benson. I went to her studio downtown and was able to learn how to work with wax. I had alot of fun because i have never done encaustic work before and it was fun to learn from her. She was a very good teacher and i was able to make two pieces of small artwork in a day; one of which i brought into school as a summer piece of artwork. I really enjoyed taking the class and would recommend it to anyone looking to try out encaustic painting.

here is an ecaustic peice that Andrea has created for her 2010 Gallery..  http://www.andreabenson.com/Images2010/blanket.html i saw this piece in her gallery while i was there.
